Specified Perils

Specified Perils coverage is similar to Comprehensive, but covers a much more limited list of risks:

What it doesn't cover

Some of the losses that are not covered include damage from vandalism, malicious mischief, falling objects such as rocks, or impact with an animal. You need Comprehensive coverage for protection against those risks.

Which should you choose?

All coverage provided by Specified Perils is also included under Comprehensive coverage. Customers should choose one or the other, not both, of these coverages. Their costs reflect the amount of coverage they provide.

Affect on your discount

Claims made against Specified Perils coverage do not affect your discount on ICBC's Claim-Rated Scale.

Deductible

The deductible [click for definition] for specified perils coverage is always $300.

Loss of Use coverage

Specified Perils coverage includes Loss of Use coverage only if your vehicle is stolen (as long as your vehicle is not a taxi, limousine-use or a u-drive vehicle.)

Coverage begins 72 hours after the theft is reported to police, and ends on the earlier of: repairs being made to a recovered vehicle; ICBC settling or offering to settle the claim: or reaching the limit of coverage, which is up to $40 per day to a maximum of $800.

Your adjuster will tell you how to proceed if you have a claim.
