In the past, claim-free customers gained a 10% discount per year for 4 years, and then had to maintain that 40% discount for 5 more years to become a RoadStar.
Under the changes to the Claim-Rated Scale that took effect January 1, 2001, claim-free customers will gain a 5% discount each year for 8 years, and then become a RoadStar after 1 more year of claim-free driving.
Either way, it takes you at least 9 years without an at-fault or chargeable claim to become a RoadStar.
However, because some customers were part-way to being a RoadStar when the change came into effect, they will be frozen at the 40% discount level for up to 4 years, depending on what level they were at on January 1, 2001.
This will ensure that everyone completes at least 9 claim-free years before becoming a RoadStar.
