Driver Licensing
Getting started

Here’s how to get your licence. You'll find the information you need, whether you're:

Driver Licensing

Online Practice Knowledge Test

Studying for your Class 7 learner's licence? The Online Practice Knowledge Test will definitely help. Also, check out our RoadSense Tips (video clips and action-animations of safe road maneuvers).

Knowlege test

When you visit a Driver Licensing Centre to take your knowledge test, give yourself enough time to finish. You should start your test at least an hour before closing time. This time is an estimate only, and depending on customer demand on any given day we may not be able to accommodate all knowledge test requests. Come in as early as you can!

Please Note: our Fraser Valley Expressways (in Cloverdale, Guildford and Richmond) now offer knowledge testing by appointment. Under "Find out more" on the right-hand side of this page, click on "Find a licensing office." Then click on "List of locations" to find the phone numbers and other relevant information about the Fraser Valley Expressway of your choice.

We thank you in advance for your understanding.

Road tests

Ready to take a road test? Great! Here's how to book your road test appointment.

You'll find an ICBC driver licensing office close by, with staff ready to help.

Note: Please come on time. All missed road test appointments are subject to a $25 cancellation fee.

Changing the address on your driver's licence

You can easily update the address on your driver's licence using the B.C. government's online change of address service. An address tag that sticks onto your licence will be mailed to you.

If you have an ICBC insurance policy, you must have your address updated on it, too. Here's how to change the address on both your driver's licence and insurance policy.

Planning to take a driver education course?

If you take an approved driver education course, you may be eligible for a six-month reduction in the Novice stage of graduated licensing.
