Byron Horner is the president of CopperLion Capital, the Washington Family office in Vancouver, B.C. CopperLion Capital performs corporate development on behalf of The Washington Companies.
Byron has a broad background in private equity investing, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions, having made debt and equity investments, executed divestitures and acquisitions, and completed financings in a number of diverse sectors.
Previously, Byron worked as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch & Co. (Global Industries Group) and CIBC World Markets (Industrial Group) in New York and at Ernst & Young in Vancouver. Prior to working on Wall Street, he worked at Lawson Lundell LLP in Vancouver and was called to the Bar of British Columbia.
Byron is special advisor to the co-chairmen of the board of directors of Seaspan Corporation (NYSE: SSW). He also serves on the board of directors of Aviation Partners Inc., Aviation Partners Boeing (a joint venture between Aviation Partners Inc. and The Boeing Company) and Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver Foundation.
Byron holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Honours) from Carleton University, a Certificat D’Etudes Politiques from L'Institut D'Etudes Politiques de Paris, a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of British Columbia, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto Law School, and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business. In addition, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst Charterholder and holds the ICD.D designation from the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors.
