seatbelts

How to Wear Your Seatbelts

Correct way to wear | Seatbelts & youth | Protecting your baby | Protecting your children | Buckle up – it's the law | How seatbelts work | School buses & seatbelts

checkbox Always wear a lap/shoulder belt system when one is available.
checkbox Place the lap belt snug and low over your pelvic bones (hips).
checkbox Place the shoulder belt over your shoulder and across your chest - never under your arm or behind your back.
checkbox Never recline your seat when travelling, creating slack in the seatbelt.

Good belt fit

Good belt fit means positioning the seat belt system so that the force of impact during a crash will be distributed over the bony structures of the pelvis and chest. Poor belt fit is when it's placed over the soft abdomen area or when the shoulder belt is under the arm, behind the back or the vehicle seat is reclined producing slack in the seatbelt.
