Making an injury claim

What if I was injured by a hit and run driver?

Most B.C. residents, whether they own and insure a vehicle or not, are covered for up to $200,000 if their property is damaged or they are injured or killed by an uninsured or hit and run driver on a highway in British Columbia.

Uninsured motorists

Similar coverage applies if you were injured by a motorist who was uninsured.

Underinsured motorists

If you have been injured by a motorist without enough Third Party Liability Insurance to cover the costs of your injuries, you are still protected. Most motorists insured in B.C. are automatically entitled to Underinsured Motorist Protection up to $1,000,000. Your coverage increases if you purchased extra Underinsured Motorist Protection coverage.

What can I do if I'm not happy with my claim?

If you have a dispute or complaint about a decision or action relating to your claim you should first contact the manager or supervisor at the ICBC Claim Centre where your claim is being handled and ask for assistance or information about your options. You can also take steps through ICBC's Fairness Process.
