If I can't do housework, does ICBC provide homemaker benefits?

Yes. Under ICBC Accident Benefits you are entitled to homemaker benefits of up to $145 per week if you are substantially and continuously disabled in a crash and unable to perform your usual household tasks.

NOTE: You will not be compensated for expenses incurred to employ a family member as a homemaker.

ICBC defines "family" as:

"A group of individuals who either live with the insured under the same roof, or, the insured's immediate family, such as husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, or any of their spouses."

You will be responsible for selecting and hiring homemakers. While ICBC may recommend homemakers, it does not hire homemakers and in no way guarantees their services. Where available, bonded homemaker services are recommended.
