Who's at fault?

In many cases after a crash, ICBC must investigate and determine who is at fault.

You'll either be found at fault, not at fault or partly at fault.

The assessment of fault could affect:

Note: The courts have the final say about who is liable (at fault) for a motor vehicle accident. ICBC will assess fault in your case based on our knowledge of how courts have decided fault in the past in cases similar to yours.

How fault fits into the claims process

After a customer makes a claim, ICBC gathers as much information as possible to evaluate the extent of the loss, assess fault and offer a fair settlement.
