My vehicle is too damaged to drive

Has your vehicle been towed away?

If your vehicle had to be towed after a crash, you might be concerned about what happened to it. Don't worry. Usually, towed vehicles are kept safely in storage until a damage estimate can be done.

Did you leave anything in your vehicle?

If you left any personal belongings in your vehicle, let your ICBC adjuster know. He or she will arrange for you to get them.

Repairing your vehicle

Here's how to get a damage estimate, find a good body shop and get the repairs done.

Getting around without your vehicle

Wondering how to get around while your vehicle is out of action?

Many body shops can provide you with a courtesy car.

If you have the repairs are done at a c.a.r. shop VALET facility, the shop will help meet your transportation needs.

If you have ICBC Loss of Use coverage and have a qualifying claim, ICBC will pay you back the cost of renting a car, taking taxis or public transport.

Writeoffs

Sometimes it costs more to repair a vehicle than it is worth — that is, its market value before it was damaged. In this case, we declare it a “total loss” and offer a settlement.

Claim expiry dates

All claims have expiry dates, or "limitation periods". If you would like to know the limitation period of your ICBC claim, please contact your adjuster.
