Theft from a motor home

Do I need to report to police?

Yes. If someone broke into your vehicle, you should report to police right away. If you don't, it may affect the way ICBC processes your claim.

What is the coverage?

If you purchased ICBC Autoplan Comprehensive or Specified Perils insurance you are covered by ICBC for:

• All equipment permanently attached [click for definition] to the motor home, excluding a camper and radar detector.
• Fixtures and fittings not permanently attached that form part of the equipment of the motor home.
• Seatbelts, air bags and child safety harnesses.
• Sound and communication equipment, under specified conditions.
• One safety kit consisting of the following items: one first aid kit; one fire extinguisher; one flashlight; 6 warning flares and 2 warning cones or flags or reflectors, one earthquake kit, subject to a maximum amount of $50 for each item.
• Replacement tires: [click for definition] A maximum of four snow tires and wheels or summer alternatives for the snow tires and wheels (regardless of the number of drive wheels of the vehicle). Tires and wheels must be the size specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
• A maximum of four snow chains regardless of number of drive wheels on the vehicle.
• One wheel wrench; one tire cover; one car jack; one spare tire and wheel.
• Seat covers (including comfort seats) and floor mats sufficient for the vehicle.
• One carrying rack.
• One vehicle security alarm system.
• Televisions and video players permanently attached to a motor home, leisure van or limousine and are designed to be removable for operation in another location.
• Booster cables, snow scraper, snow broom, battery heater, block heater or towing cable, to a maximum amount of $50 for each item.
• Contents: Including coverage for up to $2,000 worth of contents. Certain items are excluded including: business equipment, motorized vehicles, watercraft, bicycles, and valuables such as money, furs and jewellery. Please see your Autoplan broker for a complete list.
