Enhanced identification card: change your name or address

To change the name or address on your enhanced identity card (EIC), you must reapply for one.

Important

Due to a Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) change, anyone using a Canadian Citizenship Certificate issued on or after Feb. 1, 2012 as ID cannot apply for or renew an EDL or EIC.

* Note: When applying for an EIC, a passport is not accepted as proof of Canadian citizenship.
