Book your appointment to apply for an enhanced ID card

Here's how to book an appointment to apply for an enhanced identification card (EIC), and details on what you need to bring. 

You must book an in-person appointment, held at a designated driver licensing office, to

• apply for your first EIC
• renew your EIC
• replace a lost or stolen EIC, or
• update your EIC because you've changed your name or address.

How to book or change your appointment

Appointments must be booked ahead of time, either online or by phone.

Online

The easiest way to book, reschedule, or cancel an appointment is online.

Hours: Available 4 a.m. to midnight Monday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.

Note: To book online, you must already have a B.C. driver's licence (BCDL), BCID, EDL or EIC.

If you have not previously held a BCDL or BCID you will need to book by phone.

Call the EDL Customer Line at 1-866-972-6888 Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Note: The customer line is unable to provide earlier appointment times than those available on the Online Booking service.

BC Services card

A combination EIC/BC Services health care card is not available.

If you would like a BC Services health care card, do not make an EIC appointment. Just visit any driver licensing office.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Prepare for your appointment by completing the application checklist.

When you come in for your appointment, you need to bring

• your completed citizenship questionnaire, and
• all required ID (originals only).

Note: If you are driving a far distance to attend and EDL or EIC appointment, we recommend that you call us before your appointment to confirm what ID and documents you need to bring with you.
