Renew your enhanced identification card

To renew your enhanced identification card (EIC) you'll need to book an appointment online or by phone before you attend your appointment in person at an EIC designated driver licensing centre.

At your appointment, you'll need to:

• provide the required identification, and
• reapply for an EIC to ensure that you still meet the eligibility requirements.

Booking an appointment

The easiest way to book an appointment to renew your EIC is to use the EDL Online Booking Service.

You can also call the EDL Customer Line at 1-866-972-6888 Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What to bring

When you attend your appointment to renew your EIC, you'll need to bring:

• your EIC
• your original birth certificate or Canadian citizenship document, and
• one other piece of additional identification.
