RoadSafetyBC is responsible for assessing drivers and making driver fitness decisions. One of the tools they use is called a DriveABLE assessment.
Have you been referred for a DriveABLE assessment?
If you have a medical condition that may affect your ability to drive safely, you may be referred for a DriveABLE assessment. It's used to evaluate cognitive skills that could affect your driving ability, such as your memory, attention, reaction time and judgment.
Questions about DriveABLE?
DriveABLE is a partnership between RoadSafetyBC and DriveABLE. ICBC is not associated with DriveABLE. To schedule tests or discuss your results, please contact RoadSafetyBC or DriveABLE directly.
Changes to the assessment program
Beginning March 1, 2018, RoadSafetyBC will no longer use DriveABLE assessments to assist in determining driver medical fitness. Instead, a new enhanced road assessment (ERA) will be used starting March 5, 2018 to assess a driver’s medical fitness to drive safely. You can find more information about the Enhanced Road Assessment (ERA) on the Government of B.C. website.
