Enhanced driver licence (EDL) and Enhanced identity card (EIC)

The Enhanced driver's licence (EDL) and Enhanced ID card (EIC) programs are being phased out, which means we are not renewing, replacing or issuing new EDLs or EICs. However, EDLs and EICs already issued will remain valid until their expiry date.

If your EDL/EIC is lost or stolen or your name or address changes prior to the expiry date, we will issue you a B.C. driver's licence (BCDL) or B.C. identification card (BCID). If the expiry date is within the 180-day renewal window, the standard BCDL/BCID renewal fees will apply, otherwise no fee is required.
