Question

How do I change my address on my insurance policy and driver's licence?

Answer

If your address has changed, your driver's licence and insurance policy will both have to be updated. You must let ICBC know within 10 days of moving.

If you go to your local Autoplan broker, you can request a change of address on your driver's licence and insurance at the same time.

Changing the address on your insurance policy

To change the address on your vehicle insurance policy, please go in-person, with your existing policy, to any Autoplan broker.

Why is it necessary to go to an Autoplan broker?

Changing your address may affect the terms of your insurance policy. The amount of your insurance premium depends, in part, on the “territory” where your vehicle is primarily used. Moving to a different territory in BC could result in a premium increase, or refund. By going to an Autoplan broker's office, your current territory can be verified.

Ensuring your policy has the correct address also reduces the risk of your vehicle's registration being transferred fraudulently.
