As the snowpack melts and rivers rise in some parts of the province, you may be worried about flooding.
We want you to be safe. The Provincial Emergency Program features tips on how to prepare for a flood as well as ongoing updates on current BC flood warnings, watches and advisories.
Due to the heightened risk of flooding in BC at this time, here are some things you should know about your ICBC coverage.
If you have ICBC's comprehensive or specified perils coverage, then damage to your vehicle caused by rising flood waters is covered. You'll still be covered even if you live in an area threatened by flood that is under an emergency evacuation alert, notice or order due to flooding.
However, if your vehicle is in a threatened area, then you will not be able to add this coverage to your insurance if you don't already have it.
If you need to move your unlicensed vehicle out of a flood-threatened area, you may purchase a Temporary Operation Permit. For more information, please contact your Autoplan broker.
