Kenneth G. Martin


Kenneth G. Martin was appointed President and CEO of Pacific Blue Cross (PBC) in January 2003. He is also President and CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of British Columbia Life & Casualty Company, a director of ICBC, a director of Ovarian Cancer Canada, a director of The Vancouver Board of Trade, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Western Conference of Prepaid Medical Plans, a member of the Council of Management of the International Federation of Health Plans, and President of the Canadian Association of Blue Cross Plans.

Ken is a member of ICBC's Investment Committee and Chair of the HR & Compensation Committee, a member of the Ovarian Cancer's Executive and HR Committees and a member of B.C. Life's Investment Committee.

Prior to joining PBC, Ken was the U.S. Practice Leader for Mercer HR Consulting's Administration Practice, a member of the U.S. Board of Directors and a Worldwide Partner.

From 1993-1998, Ken was North American CEO of Sedgwick Noble Lowndes, a Director of the SNL Group Board and a Director of Sedgwick Inc. He was a member of Sedgwick Inc.'s Executive, Audit and Investment Committees.

From 1989-1993, Ken was president and CEO of Sedgwick Canada Ltd. and a member of the Board. After beginning his career in 1971 with Aetna Canada, he held several positions in the employee benefits consulting industry from 1974-1989.

A graduate and permanent member of the Honour Society of The Richard Ivey School of Business Administration at the University of Western Ontario, Ken continued his formal education with executive courses at Wharton in the mid-90s. In 2006, he graduated from the Institute of Corporate Directors Corporate Governance College and received the designation ICD.D.

Ken lives in Vancouver, B.C., with his wife and two children.
