Driver Examiner I, Prince George — Ad # 6574

We have a challenging opportunity for a highly motivated and organized individual to conduct road tests in our Prince George location. The Driver Examiner will primarily conduct road testing specific to passenger vehicles.
Your focus on customer service and strong communication skills assist you when dealing with a wide variety of applicants in testing situations. You will assess the knowledge and ability of drivers, communicate the results of the road tests and explain, when appropriate, improvements that are required to meet licensing requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting driver examinations in accordance with established procedures
- Operating a travelling examination unit
- Maneuvering in and around all types of vehicles and working in all weather conditions
- Occasionally providing support to the Client Service Representatives
- Collecting fees, taking photos and issuing renewals or duplicate driver’s licences
- Administering vision and knowledge tests for all classes of driver’s licence
- Updating records and collecting money owing with respect to fines, fees and debt payments
Your qualifications include:
- A valid BC driver's license
- A current driver abstract
- A thorough knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Acts and Regulations as they relate to driver examinations and licensing
- A clear understanding of safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques
- A high level of concentration to observe and assess driver abilities
- Demonstrated ability to give instruction and make assessments
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle workload volume effectively
- Proven customer service skills
In addition, you must meet the provincial legislated requirements of the Criminal Records Review Act. A background in driver training and assessment is preferred.
