Liability coverage
Basic Autoplan protects you as a person
when you're involved in a motor vehicle crash.
It does this with 5 kinds of coverage:
- Third Party Liability coverage pays claims against you made by other
motorists for damages or injuries, up to a limit of $200,000,
when you are found responsible for a crash. Find out how you can

- Accident
Benefits pay for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, wage
loss or death benefits. They cover you, members of your household,

of your vehicle if you are injured or killed in a crash, no matter
who is at fault.
- Underinsured
Motorist Protection (UMP) provides coverage if you or your
passengers are injured or killed and the motorist at fault doesn't
have enough insurance to pay for your claims. You and your household
members are covered when you are pedestrians, cyclists or passengers
in another vehicle. The coverage is up to $1 million per person.
- Hit-and-Run
and Uninsured Motorist coverage pays damages of up to $200,000
if you are injured or killed by a hit-and-run or uninsured motorist.
- Inverse
Liability Coverage covers you in the parts of Canada and the
U.S. where the law won't allow you to recover losses from a driver
who causes a crash. If you are in a crash in one of these areas,
Basic Autopan will pay the cost of repairs of your vehicle, as
much as the other driver was responsible. So if another driver
was 75% at fault for a crash that happened where you can't sue,
Inverse Liability Coverage will pay 75% of the cost of repairs
to your car.
