Third Party Liability

If you injure someone else or damage their property in a motor vehicle crash and are held legally responsible, Third Party Liability [click for definition] coverage pays their claims on your behalf, up to the specified limit.

How much Third Party Liability coverage does Basic Autoplan give you?

With Basic Autoplan, that limit is $200,000. This is the minimum coverage that an owner must have on a B.C.-registered vehicle. (The rules are different for a bus, taxi, limo or heavy commercial vehicle; see Commercial Vehicles.)

What is not covered by Third Party Liability?

Recreational trailers, like other vehicles, are required to be licensed and insured with at least the basic mandatory Third Party Liability coverage before they can be used or operated on highways. Higher liability limits as well as own damage coverage (collision, comprehensive and specified perils) are also available. Please see your Autoplan broker for further details.
