How to get a Rental Vehicle Policy
You can buy an Autoplan Rental Vehicle Policy
from any Autoplan
broker. It can cover a private passenger vehicle, motor home,
motorcycle, trailer, or commercial vehicle (that does not have a
GVW of more than 5,000 kg) used for pleasure or business purposes.
Who it covers
The policy will cover the person named
in it and any other person who is named as a permitted driver
on the rental contract. The policy can cover you for as little
as a day or as long as a year.
Only B.C. residents or B.C.-registered
companies can buy Autoplan's rental vehicle policy.
What you should know before buying
Buy your Rental Vehicle Policy before
the date you need the rental vehicle. Get coverage for the longest
term that you expect to need it.
If you are renting your vehicle ahead
of time, you or your travel agent should make sure the rental
company you choose will accept the Autoplan Rental Vehicle Policy.
Most companies accept it, but some may ask for a larger deposit
than usual if you don't buy their company's coverage.
If you plan to rent a vehicle once you
get to your destination, choose a rental company that accepts
the Autoplan policy. When you buy your policy, your broker will
give you a card to show to the car rental company's representative.
It explains your coverage and gives them a phone number to call
if they have any questions.
Only good in Canada and the U.S.
Like other Autoplan policies, the Rental
Vehicle Policy applies throughout Canada and the United States,
but not in Mexico or any other country.
