Basic Autoplan [click
for definition] looks after you
as an individual, rather than your vehicle. You can buy optional
coverage that will look after the repair or replacement of your
vehicle, even if the crash is your fault. Unless you have a very
inexpensive vehicle that you could easily replace if it was damaged
or destroyed, you should consider optional insurance for your vehicle.
The types are:
- Collision
- covers repairs to your vehicle for collisions, even if you are
at fault.
- Comprehensive
- covers many types of damage to your vehicle (e.g., electrical
fire) that are not the result of a collision.
- Specified
Perils - covers repairs to your vehicle for specific types
of claims. Covers some but not nearly all of the types covered
by Comprehensive.
- Vehicle
in Storage - insurance for your vehicle in storage.
- Off-Road
Vehicles - Off-road vehicles require special coverage.
- Agreed
Value for Collector Cars - The policy for owners of collector
vehicles.
There are special requirements for farm vehicles.
