How to apply for a Disability Discount

The first step in getting the Autoplan Disability Discount is to get a Motor Fuel Tax Act registration number. Contact the Ministry of Small Business and Revenue and apply for a fuel tax rebate. When your application is approved, you will receive a Motor Fuel Tax Act registration number. When you visit your Autoplan broker to apply for the Disability Discount, be sure to take this number, along with your Owner's Certificate of Insurance [click for definition] and Vehicle Licence.

Retroactive application of the Disability Discount

If you have been disabled and owned or leased a vehicle for some time, you may ask to have the Disability Discount applied retroactively. To apply, give your Autoplan broker a letter from the Ministry of Small Business and Revenue that includes your Motor Fuel Tax Act registration number and the date you were first eligible to get the fuel tax rebate.

ICBC will then adjust your premiums and send you a refund for the backdated Disability Discount.
