After the impoundment period ends

Retrieving your vehicle

  1. Complete a Request for Vehicle Release form at an ICBC driver licensing office. Be sure to bring identification with you.
  2. Licensing staff will fax the release details to the impound lot.
  3. Pay the vehicle towing and storage charges at the impound lot and retrieve your vehicle.
  4. If the vehicle is impounded for 48 hours, it may be retrieved directly at the end of the impoundment period.

If you designate someone else

You can designate someone else to request the vehicle release and pick up the car.

You must complete an Owner's Authorization form, available from any ICBC driver licensing office. The designate then follows the process above.

Impoundment ending on weekend or holiday?

If the impoundment period ends on a weekend or holiday, you can complete the forms on the last business day before the release date.
