Multiple crash premium

The Multiple Crash Premium (MCP) was introduced on September 1, 2000. It replaces the crash responsibility charge.

The MCP penalizes the relatively small number of B.C. drivers who are in multiple at-fault crashes.

You cannot dispute the amount of the Multiple Crash Premium. However, you may be able to:

1. Dispute your assessment of liability for the at-fault crashes that resulted in this premium being charged against you.

or…

2. Reduce the Multiple Crash Premium

If you have received an MCP invoice, be aware that you cannot conduct any licensing transactions at a driver licensing office until your MCP invoice is paid in full. Your Autoplan insurance coverage may also be affected.

You can pay the MCP in person or by mail. The process is similar to paying driver penalty point premiums. See Paying points (in the Driver penalty points section) for payment instructions.
