Disputing a ticket
Part 1 - Disputing a ticket | Part 2 - After your dispute is filed
You have up to 30 days from the date of service-the date you received the ticket in person-to file for a dispute on your violation ticket. You can dispute your violation ticket in person or by mail.
This dispute process is separate from ICBC. It is done through the B.C. Ministry of the Attorney General. Your dispute is registered with the B.C. court system. You should be prepared to present your case in court.

NOTE: This information applies to provincial violation tickets only, issued under the B.C. Offence Act. It does not apply to municipal, private parking or other kinds of tickets.

Disputing the allegation
If you do not agree that you committed the offence, then you need to dispute the allegation.
Disputing the fine
If, however, you agree that you committed the offence but wish to dispute the amount of the fine, then you are disputing the fine.
Registering a dispute in
person
You, or someone acting on your behalf, can register
a dispute in person by going to an ICBC driver
licensing office or Provincial
Court Registry.
Please bring a copy of the ticket with you. You don't need to attach a letter (as you do when disputing by mail).

Registering a dispute by mail
To register a dispute by mail, send a copy of the front of your ticket, together with a cover letter to:
