Getting a commercial learner's licence
- Here are the steps to get a commercial learner's
licence:
- Present one piece of primary and one piece
of secondary
identification at any driver licensing office.
- Have the driver licensing staff check
your driving record to ensure you have:
- 3 or fewer convictions in the past 2 years
for tickets that carry driver penalty points
- no motor vehicle-related Criminal
Code of Canada convictions in the past 3 years.
- Pay the $15 test fee.
- Complete the application form and provide any
requested information.
- Take the knowledge
and road signs tests.
- Have your vision and hearing checked at the
licensing office, and answer questions related to your medical
health. You must disclose any known medical conditions if they
may affect your driving. (See Medical
Standards.) Your medical record may need to be reviewed by
the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles before you receive your learner's
licence.
- Receive your learner's licence if your application
is accepted; you've passed the knowledge and road signs tests;
and you do not have a medical condition that may affect your driving.
