changes: new rules for new drivers
Driving is complex. Gaining the necessary skills and experience takes time.
B.C.'s Graduated Licensing Program (GLP) lets you get on-road experience, while putting special restrictions on your licence that help reduce your risk of crashing. As you gain skills and experience, the restrictions are removed.

Six-month reduction to Novice stage
We know new drivers need both safe driving attitudes and skills to stay out of crashes. Road safety and BC research show driver training to be effective in new driver skill development. As such, the six-month Novice stage reduction is an incentive for completing comprehensive training and demonstrating safe driving attitudes and behaviours by staying crash free and following the rules of the road.
