Replacing your licence
You will need to replace your licence if it
is lost or damaged, or has been stolen.
Where and how to replace
a licence
You can replace your licence in person at
any driver
licensing office.
You will need to bring with you:
- one piece of primary and one piece of
secondary identification
- the replacement fee of $17
Once you've paid the replacement fee and
provided any further information requested, licensing staff will
take your picture and issue you a new photo driver's licence.
Renewing your licence at
the same time
If your licence expires within the next 6 months,
you will be asked to renew your licence instead of simply replacing
it. In this situation, you would pay only the renewal fee of $75.
(You don't have to pay the replacement fee as well.)
Outside of B.C.?
If your licence is lost or stolen while outside
B.C., and you need it to drive, call the ICBC Customer Contact toll-free
number (available throughout the continental USA and Canada) at
1-800-950-1498. You can call (250) 978-8300 collect from non toll-free
locations.
