Your ad here

Your Ad Here was an ICBC-sponsored road safety contest for high school students across the province. The contest ran for three years, addressing the fact that car crashes are the number one cause of preventable death for youth in B.C.

About the contest

Your Ad Here encouraged high school students to design safe driving ads. Students were asked to learn about road safety risks, then design and create an ad to help their friends learn to drive smart. Our research has found that a message can have more impact when it comes from a peer.

Entries received

We received more than 500 amazing entries that address the top causes of crashes involving youth—speeding, impaired driving and distracted driving.

Prizes went to the top entries and to the school with the highest percentage of student participation. There was also a public vote for the fan favourite on Facebook, and a prize for the best written artist's statement.

How the ads were used

Winning entries were featured in our road safety ads in high school Premier Agenda day planners and in YouThink magazine.

Contest judging

Judging was based on the ad's message, appeal, impact, design, audience relevancy and the artist's statement.

Order posters of winning artwork for your school
