Road Sense Tips

Stopping for emergency vehicles

Emergency vehicles displaying flashing lights and using sirens always have the right-of-way.

All vehicles on both sides of the road must pull over and stop to leave a clear path.

Exceptions

Intersections

Don't stop in the middle of an intersection. (If you're blocking the path of the emergency vehicle, you may have to turn the corner to get out of the way.)

Divided highways

If you are on a divided highway and the emergency vehicle is approaching on the other side of the median, you may not need to stop.
