Vocational rehabilitation

Do you provide vocational rehabilitation services to customers injured in a car crash? Here are a few things you need to know.

ICBC may fund vocational rehabilitation services to assist customers when they are unable to return to their previous employment due to injuries sustained in a car accident.

Vendor account applications​

As of February 1, 2024, the process to apply for a direct billing vendor account number will be online.

Direct billing vendor account​

To be eligible for direct billing, vocational rehabilitation service providers must meet and maintain the requirements to be an approved vend​or​.

Invoicing and reporting

Vocational rehabilitation providers must submit reports to vocational.rehabilitation@icbc.com.

Invoices for services that are not associated with a report must be submitted using the vocational rehabilitation services invoice to invoices@icbc.com.

Fees

Vocational services provided without the prior approval of ICBC may not be covered. In the case of a no-show, the service provider's no​-show and cancellation policies should apply. ICBC will not pay for no-shows.

​Vocational rehabilitation by professionals with both:

Master's or doctorate degrees with courses in rehabilitation, 

and

Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) or Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC) designation.

$100 per hour for a ​master's degree, or

$145 per hour for a doctorate degree

50 percent of the hourly rate for professional services, up to a maximum of 60 minutes total per treatment session

​Treatment guidelines

Vocational Rehabilitation professionals are expected to assess clients and determine their rehabilitation plans in accordance with the guidelines and practice standards of their college.
