Visit a driver licensing office

Get ready for your visit to a B.C. driver licensing office by double-checking what ID you need, how much you'll have to pay, and how to book your appointments.

Driver licensing services and COVID-19

As of March 14, 2022, masks and physical distancing are voluntary when visiting a driver licensing office. Masks continue to be mandatory for road tests.

Be prepared for your visit

You must be a resident of British Columbia to apply for or hold a B.C. driver's licence. If you are unsure if you qualify as a resident, please contact us.

Unpaid debt, such as a provincial violation ticket or penalty point premiums, could affect your ability to renew or upgrade your licence when you visit. If you have outstanding debt with us, please contact Account Services (604-661-2723 or 1-800-665-6442).

Starting Wednesday, June 15, 2022, ICBC-operated driver licensing offices will open their doors to the public at 9 a.m. on Wednesdays, except for the Metrotown location, which will open at 10 a.m. Service BC centres and appointed agents are not affected at this time. Find your nearest driver licensing office for location-specific information about business hours.
