BCUC regulation of ICBC
The B.C. Utilities Commission (BCUC) was appointed in 2003 as the independent regulator for ICBC with the responsibility to approve rates for Basic insurance.
Basic rates for 2021 and beyond
To help deliver on the Enhanced Care savings, the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) has approved, on an interim basis, a 15 per cent decrease to basic insurance rates – the largest reduction to basic rates in more than 40 years.

Basic Insurance Tariff
The Basic Insurance Tariff, effective June 1, 2007, was approved through
Commission Order G-57-07. Amendments to the Basic Insurance Tariff were approved through subsequent Commission Orders.
